EVALUATION OF ANTIOXIDANT AND WOUND HEALING ACTIVITIES OF Spirulina sp. EXTRACT

Spirulina spp. is an alga from phylum Cyanobacteria that have multi-benefit due to their potential compounds like protein, carbohydrate, lipid, mineral, pigment, and phenolic compounds. Several types of research already describe capacity as antioxidant, anti-inflammation, antimicrobial agent, thus expand its application a food source, cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical compound. This study observed evaluated extract source for cosmeceutical compound antioxidant wound healing activities. was extracted with variable solvent water, ethanol, acetic acid, buffer 1 3 hours by the maceration method. which give highest antioxidants activity, healing, toxicity, irritation. The result showed water one hour using method IC50 45.21 mg/mL, AEAC 0.12 mg Vit. C/g sample, phycocyanin content 6.478 µg/ml, chlorophyll 2.642 µg/ml. Treatment 1% extracts exhibits higher effect rather than 10% extract, control group, povidone-iodine 10%, on Wistar rat skin. whitening agent inhibitory activity tyrosinase were 0.51 mg/mL. had no irritation toxicity rabbit skin mouse, respectively. capacity, agent; without effect. could be value in application.
